Introduction

The Online Psychiatric Education Network (OPEN) is a continuing professional development website that aims to expand knowledge and understanding of mental health to improve patient care. This module focuses on Obesity & Mental Health to help clinicians identify patients at risk, promote health, and develop assessment and management strategies. This OPEN module will focus on explaining underlying physiological relationships obesity and mental health using 3D animation in an unfolding clinical case scenario.

The purpose of this OPEN eLearning module is:

• to help family physicians understand the linkages between depression in obesity and mental health and the necessity of eating for wellness, and
• to provide family physicians with a patient education resource that they can review and discuss with their patients to improve patient knowledge and understanding.
