Purpose:
This visualization of demonstrative evidence in a medical negligence case is to be used as a visual aid by an expert witness to support clarity and communciation of the plaintiff's case.
DESIGN RATIONALE
This infographic was one of a series of two illustration boards created for a legal case regarding medical negligence of a doctor. The case had highly complex medical information in the form of lengthy written medical and legal reports that would almost be impossible for a lay audience to understand without the help of a visualization.
Since the timing of this case spanned over several years we decided to build our design around a large-scale timeline for the audience to follow along. The evidence was then plotted along the timeline in an organized fashion categorized by medically relevant events. Red flag labels specifically highlight critical events where the doctor was negligent in monitoring the plaintiff's health accurately.
This visual design captures the multidimensionality of the plaintiff's case and more importantly, allows the audience to understand the extent of the subsequent pain and suffering the plaintiff had to endure.
The second illustration board highlighted two of the plaintiff's complex surgeries. I contributed to the layout and design of the board while Caitlin Swanberg illustrated the surgeries.
